WEEK 7: Final Video Projects

This week, my team and I had to figure out a way to collaborate on our final video projects. We discussed potential ideas that we could use for our two videos and luckily one of my team members has access to professional video editing software. At first, we thought to record ourselves and send the audio clips into our group chat, but we ultimately decided to meet online through discord and have one team member record the meeting sessions and edit the audio clips to fit our slides. It ended up working out perfectly because we were able to pause, stop, rerecord, and even let other team members know if we couldn't hear them properly.

We are using a shared Canva project to create our slide shows for our video. I think that was a good decision because of the various editing possibilities that the website offers. We were also able to look through the slides as we were recording our parts with screensharing. If I were to do anything different, I would have started earlier. I didn't realize how little I knew about making an informational video that wasn't just basic PowerPoint slides with text.

In this week's module, we watched a TED talk by Yoshua Bengio. He highlighted the rapid advancements in AI and expressed his concerns about its increasing autonomy. Bengio introduces the concept of "Scientist AI," which focuses on understanding the world rather than making decisions. He states that current AI systems prioritize performance over understanding. He also stresses the importance of addressing AI's potential biases and ensuring that its development is guided by human values

This week's module also showed us how to use visual aids effectively in a presentation. The key takeaway was that visuals should complement the content, not overshadow it. Effective slides should highlight key points rather than just display the words that the speaker is saying. Incorporating charts, maps, and images help keep the audience's attention, but we have to make sure they don't distract from the actual topic.
